Board Meeting

MILL POND PUBLIC LIBRARY MINUTES
June 4, 2018
The meeting was called to order by Kate Tyczinski at 6:01 p.m. Others present were
Sara Wilson, Betty Kastenschmidt, Lenny Glover, Julie Barden, Kathy Jerome and Joy
Waterbury. Erin Witthun and Kes Thompson were absent. Motion by Julie and
seconded by Betty to approve the minutes for May 7, 2018. Motion by Kathy and
seconded by Betty to approve the treasurer's report. Both motions passed. Kathy
advised that she gave Erin the information about the 1st quarter withholding for her
to look at.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Trustee Picnic: Sara advised that the Trustee picnic planned for June 1 was
cancelled because of lack of interest.
2. County Wide Read: Sara advised that they will be doing a farming equipment
theme sometime in September.
3. Author Visit: Sara advised that author Gary Beyer came on May 31
st
to
address the group. He and his wife were very inspirational speakers and those who
attended enjoyed their message.
BUILDING PLANTS:
1. Rugs need Cleaning: Sara advised that the rugs need cleaning again, but she
did not want to get the company we got last year. Lenny said she would get Sara
the name of a carpet cleaner who does good work.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Summer Reading Program: Sara advised that the Summer Reading Program
will be held on June 14, 21, 28 and July 5. The theme this year is “Libraries Rock”.
Sara Chastain will run the program again.
2. Rummage for Reading Table: Sara advised that we took in $121 in the
month of May.
3. Circus: Sara advised that they came to Kes at Scope about sponsoring the
circus but Scope turned them down. Kes thought that the library might want to
sponsor the circus, but it was too late for this year. They will call again in two years.
Something to think about is maybe working with the Historical Society or other
groups to sponsor the circus.
TOPICS FROM THE FLOOR
1. Village Board Meeting: Betty will attend the June meeting. Sara will attend
the July meeting.
Motion by Kate and seconded by Joy to adjourn the meeting at 6:25 p.m.
