Board Meeting

MILL POND LIBRARY MINUTES

June 5, 2017

                                                                                                                                                                                         

The meeting was called to order by Jes Walker at 6:05 p.m.  Others present were Sara Wilson, Lenny Glover, Erin Witthun, Kate Tyczinski, Kes Thompson, Jean Winther and Joy Waterbury.  Betty Kastenschmidt and Kathy Jerome were absent.  Motion by Kes and seconded by Jean to approve the minutes for May 1, 2017.  Motion by Jean and seconded by Kes to approve the treasurer's report showing a balance of $24,112.42 for May 31 and a balance of $19,086.02 for June 30.  Both motions passed.   

 

OLD BUSINESS

1.  Wednesday Morning Book Club:  Sara advised that the new book club that wants to start on Wednesday mornings is going to wait until next year to start up. 

2.  June Dairy Days Parade:  Sara advised that the libraries are not participating in the parade this year.  

 3.  Summer Reading Program:  Sara advised that the SRP will include making a quilt, recycling, a dental hygienist and a builder. 

4.  Photo Club Card Sale:  The Photo Club's card sale will run through Father's Day.

5.  Rummage for Reading Table:  We collected $90 in sales for the month of May.

6.  Magnifier:  Sara advised that she has sold two of the magnifier lights for the Lions Club.

7.  Erin's Book Club:  The new book club was discussed.  Kes will put the information on the library's Facebook page.     

 

BUILDING PLANS:

1.  Carpet Cleaning:  Sara advised that Reel Cleaning will be coming on June 16 to clean the carpets.    

 

NEW BUSINESS

1.  Class for Sara:  Sara asked for permission to take a class on coding to help fulfill her requirement for continuing education needs.  Motion by Joy and seconded by Kes to approve $112 for the cost of the class.  The motion carried.  After a discussion, Kes made a motion to approve up to $200 every 6 months for Sara to use for classes needed to maintain her needed credits.  Motion carried.   

2.  July Meeting Date:  It was okay with everyone to hold the July meeting on the regular date.   

3.  June Book Sale:  Sara advised that she holding a book sale of $3 per bag to get rid of some of the extra books we have in the back room.

4.  Story Hour Reader for June 8:  Sara asked if anyone was available to read at Story Hour on June 8..

5.  Possible Fundraisers:  A discuss was held about holding a scavenger hunt or a jewelry party.  September 16 was set as a tentative date for the scavenger hunt.                                                                    

6.  Snow Shoveling:  Sara advised that Rob Shipp has donated the snow shoveling he did for the library last winter.

Motion by Erin and seconded by Joy to adjourn the meeting at 7:02 p.m.
