Board Meeting


MILL POND LIBRARY MINUTES
May 1, 2017
The meeting was called to order by Jes Walker at 6:10 p.m. Others present were Sara Wilson, Lenny Glover,
Erin Witthun, Kate Tyczinski, Betty Kastenschmidt. Jean Winther and Joy Waterbury. Kes Thompson and
Kathy Jerome were absent. Motion by Jean and seconded by Kate to approve the minutes for April 10, 2017.
Motion by Joy and seconded by Jean to approve the treasurer's report showing a balance of $26,886.97. Both
motions passed.
OLD BUSINESS
1. April Showers Fundraiser: Sara advised that the April Showers fundraiser made $809. After a discussion
it was decided that this would not be a good fundraiser to repeat.
2. Charges for Clerk Paying Bills: Since Kathy was not in attendance this question could not be answered.
After a discussion Joy made a motion that we do electronic bill payments for all payments that are available.
The motion was seconded by Jean and the motion passed.
3. Wednesday Morning Book Club: Sara advised that another book club is starting on Wednesday mornings
in June.
4. Spread Your Pages Book Club: A new book club is starting on May 16th and will meet on the 3rd Tuesday
night of the month. They will be reading erotic romances and their meetings will also have a live feed on
Facebook.
BUILDING PLANS:
1. Carpet Cleaning: Sara advised that the carpets need cleaning and she will look around for someone to do
the job.
NEW BUSINESS
1. June Dairy Days: Sara advised that the June Dairy Days Parade will be held on June 10 at 7:30 p.m. She
asked if anyone would be available to help.
2. Summer Reading Program: Sara advised that the theme this year is Build a Better World. It will be held at
2:00 p.m. on Thursdays from June 22 to July 13. Sara Chastain would like to bring in 4 different speakers
about "building" something.
3. Photo Club Card Sale: Sara advised that she expects the photo club to have their photo card sale soon.
4. Rummage for Reading Table: Sara advised that she put an article in the paper about people doing their
spring cleaning and to bring in items they want to get rid of for the library to sell for profit.
5. Magnifier: The Lions Club has asked the library to display a magnifier light that they are selling for those
who have trouble seeing.
6. New Printer: Sara advised that the printer died last week and has been replaced with a new one.
TOPICS FROM THE FLOOR
Sara advised that we received a $500 donation from the Grand Marsh Turkey Club. Jes asked about sponsoring
the 4-H Fair Book. Sara advised it was due April 15, but Jes will check to see it there is still time to send it in.
Motion by Erin and seconded by Betty to adjourn the meeting at 6:47 p.m.
