MILL POND LIBRARY MINUTES

April 10, 2017

 

The meeting was called to order by Sara Wilson at 6:10 p.m.  Others present were Lenny Glover, Erin Witthun, Kate Tyczinski, Kes Thompson and Betty Kastenschmidt.  Jes Walker, Jean Winther, Joy Waterbury and Kathy Jerome were absent.  Motion by Kes and seconded by Kate to approve the minutes for March 6, 2017.  Motion by Betty and seconded by Erin to approve the treasurer's report showing a balance of $3,401.06.  Both motions passed.  Kes asked if the bills are being paid on time with the change in having the Village Clerk pay the bills.  Betty asked about the Thrivent money received and Sara said she has copies of the bill and receipts if they request them.   

 

OLD BUSINESS

1.  April Showers Fundraiser:  Sara advised that there are 54 items being auctioned and a few do not have a bid yet.  A $100 donation was made to the library that paid for the umbrellas given out to be decorated. 

2.  Painting Class:  Sara advised that Nancy Stellmacher has agreed to do the painting class but we will wait until fall or winter.

 3.  Thanks to Jean:  Sara expressed a big thank you to Jean for doing story hour on March 16. 

 

BUILDING PLANS:

1.  Duct Cleaning:  Sara advised that duct cleaning is done and will be paid from the building fund.   

2.  Weeding:  Sara advised that the book weeding was done on March 20th and she thanked Jean for helping.  

 

NEW BUSINESS

1.  Mallard Duck Game:  Sara advised that we were invited to participate in the Mallard Duck Games for three dates at a cost of $20 to $75 per game.  It was agreed by the board that we did not want to participate.

2.  New Book Club:  Sara advised that Erin is starting another book club.  She also mentioned that some of the members of the Thursday book club would like to meet in the morning.

3.  Car Show August 5:  A discussion was held about when we want to hold the car show or if we want to do it at all.  Kes made a motion that we do not hold a car show this year.  Betty seconded the motion and the motion carried.  

 

TOPICS FROM THE FLOOR

The dates for the summer reading program have not been set yet.  Kes advised that she will not be able to put any info about the library in the kid's folders this year.  There is a fundraiser being held for SCOPE and we were asked to donate a basket but it was decided that we would not do so.  Sara advised that we received a $100 donation in memory of John Stafford and a $245 donation in memory of Lenore Hooper.   

 

Motion by Erin and seconded by Kes to adjourn the meeting at 6:55 p.m.
