MILL POND PUBLIC LIBRARY MINUTES
January 2, 2017
The meeting was called to order by Jes Walker at 6:15 p.m. Others present were Lenny Glover, Sara Wilson, Erin Witthun, Kate Tyczinski, Jean Winther Joy Waterbury and Betty Kastenschmidt. Kes Thompson was absent. A motion was made by and seconded by Jean to approve the minutes for December 5, 2016 and the treasurer’s report showing a balance of $104.79.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Cookie Walk: Sara advised that we made approximately $825 profit with the cookie walk. Betty had a few questions for the Thrivent report she had to make out for the funds we received from them to help with the cookie walk.
2. Paying Bills: Sara advised that she and Erin attended the Village Board meeting to discuss the issue of the library’s payroll checks. After a discussion, Joy made a motion that we add the Village Clerk to the library checking account and that we appoint the Village Clerk, per Wisconsin Statutes, to pay the library’s bills. Betty seconded the motion and the motion passed. The Village will charge us a fee to do this service which is yet to be determined.
BUILDING PLANS
1. Duct Cleaning: Sara advised that she will call Dirty Ducts Cleaning from Madison this month to have our heating ducts cleaned.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Painting Class: A discussion was held about the options for holding a painting class. Betty will contact Nancy Stellmacher to see if she would be interested in helping us with this project.
2. April Showers: A discussion was held about holding a decorated umbrella fund raiser. It was decided to ask patrons to decorate an umbrella and turn it in by March 29 and we will hold a silent auction for the umbrellas from April 3 to April 15.
TOPICS FROM THE FLOOR
Sara reminded everyone that Library Legislative Day is Tuesday, February 21. If we can’t attend, she asked that everyone contact our legislators to make them aware of the importance of the library.
Motion by Betty and seconded by Erin to adjourn the meeting at 7:00 P.M.
