MILL POND PUBLIC LIBRARY MINUTES
September 6, 2016
The meeting was held at Jes Walker’s home and was called to order by Jes Walker at 6:45 p.m. Others present were Lenny Glover, Sara Wilson, Erin Witthum, Jean Winther, Kate Tyczinski, Kes Thompson and Joy Waterbury. Betty Kastenschmidt was absent. A motion was made by Jean and seconded by Joy to approve the minutes for August 1, 2016 and the treasurer’s report showing a balance of $9,882.56.
Kes Thompson was welcomed to the Library Board.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Car Show Recap: Sara advised that we made $595 at the car show and received a $300 donation. Considering the weather, we had that day, everyone was happy with the result. After a discussion, it was decided to hold a car chow again next year on August 5, 2017.
BUILDING PLANS
1. Chimney & Duct Cleaning: Sara contacted Steve Krob and he suggested we contact Majik Sweep. Sara will call them.
2. Fireplace Cleaning: Sara advised that the fireplace has been cleaned and the cost was $170.
3. New Shelving Tabled: Sara will start working on ordering the new shelving.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Halloween: Halloween falls on a Monday this year. After a discussion it was decided that we will have a pumpkin carving contest. We will ask people to bring in a carved pumpkin and charge a $1 entry fee. Cash prizes will be given for the best pumpkins.
2. New Display: Sara advised that Tom Medick has brought in his wooden toy collection.
3. Basket Fundraiser: It was decided that we will have a basket fundraiser in November again. We will also contact local businesses and ask them to donate a basket as well. Baskets will be due by November 5 and the silent auction will be held from November 7 – 19.
4. Painting Class: Sara had a copy of the top 3 choices and everyone voted for their favorite choice. There were 4 votes each for the summer & winter landscapes. It was decided that we will hold the painting class in January.
