Board Meeting

MILL POND PUBLIC LIBRARY MINUTES

December 5, 2016

The meeting started at 6:00 p.m. with a pot luck supper.  The meeting was called to order by Jes Walker at 6:30 p.m.  Others present were Lenny Glover, Sara Wilson, Erin Witthun, Kate Tyczinski, Kes Thompson, Jean Winther and Joy Waterbury.  Betty Kastenschmidt was absent.  A motion was made by Kes and seconded by Erin to approve the minutes for November 7, 2016 and the treasurer’s report showing a balance of $5,558.01.

OLD BUSINESS

1.  Budget & Town Meetings:  Kes reported that they did not expect a problem with the Town of Kingston.  A discussion was held about raises for library workers.  Motion by Joy and seconded by Erin to increase Lori’s salary by $1.00 per hour.  Motion by Kes and seconded by Jean to increase Sara’s salary by $2.00 per hour and that we review salaries annually.  Both motions carried.

2.  Basket Fundraiser:  Sara advised that we raised $3,776.  $1,986 came from basket bids, but we are still waiting to collect $20.  We received $1,840 from donations, including $500 each from Alliant Energy and Kingston Lions.  Our expenses were $50.

3.  Cookie Walk:  Sara advised that posters are here for everyone to take.  Posters are up in Kingston, Marquette and some in Markesan.  Calls have been made asking for cookie donations and messages were left when no one answered.  Set up will be this Friday, Dec. 9 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Sara got items for the raffle and they need to be wrapped.  Betty has applied for Thrivent funds but the funds will not come by December 10.  It was also decided to keep the price for cookies at $5 per pound.

BUILDING PLANS

1.   Duct Cleaning:  Sara advised that Majik Sweep never called back.  She was given the name of Dirty Ducts Cleaning from Madison.  It was decided that she should call them about having the heating ducts cleaned.

NEW BUSINESS

1.  Holiday Closing:  The library will be closed starting Friday, December 23 for the Christmas holiday and open again on Monday, January 2.

2.  New Computer Desk:  Sara advised that a new computer desk has been donated to the library and is set up by the card catalog.

3.  Paycheck Issue:  Sara advised that she was told the Village of Kingston wants the library to make out its own pay checks and
