Board Meeting

MILL POND PUBLIC LIBRARY MINUTES
August 1, 2016
The meeting was called to order by Jes Walker at 6:15 p.m. Others present were Lenny Glover, Sara Wilson, Erin Witthun, Betty
Kastenschmidt and Joy Waterbury. Jean Winther and Kate Tyczinski were absent. A motion was made by Betty and seconded by Joy to approve the
minutes for July 5, 2016 and the treasurer’s report showing a balance of $13,608.12.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Summer Reading Program Recap: Sara advised that the Summer Reading Program went well, averaging 20 children each week. Only 10 came
to the pool party because of the cold, cloudy day and illness. Kes Thompson & Sara drove instead of taking the bus.
2. Car Show: Sara advised that the flyers are still available. She ordered a trophy and 50 plaques from Jill. The Businessmen’s Association
donated $50 and Sara will send out letters to other area businessmen to request donations. Sara said she was planning for 100 people to come food-
wise.
BUILDING PLANS
1. Chimney & Duct Cleaning: Sara advised that Golden Chimney does not do duct cleaning. She will contact Steve Krob to see if he has any
recommendation of who we could call.
2. Fireplace Cleaning: Sara advised that she contacted Chuck Nimmer of New Holstein. He will put us on the list and contact Sara when he is in the
area. She was advised that the fireplace should be cleaned every 2 to 3 years.
3. New Shelving tabled: Sara will start working on ordering the new shelving.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Donation: Sara advised that we received a $200 donation from Holy Family Catholic Women. A thank you was sent out.
2. Chrissy & J Michels: Sara advised that Chrissy’s (former board member) husband has cancer and a benefit is being held to help them with their
expenses. Motion by Betty and seconded by Jes that we donate $25 to sponsor a hole at the golf outing. The motion carried.
TOPICS FROM THE FLOOR
Sara advised that Kes Thompson has agreed to serve on the library board to take Kathy Sletten’s place.
Tonight was to be Kathy Sletten’s last meeting but she was unable to attend. A cake was enjoyed by the board in her honor.
Motion by Betty and seconded by Erin to adjourn the meeting at 6:35 P.M.

The next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 (because of Labor Day) at 6:15 pm at Jes Walker’s house for a pot luck supper. Jes
will supply the meat and asked everyone else to bring a side dish
