Board Meeting

MILL POND PUBLIC LIBRARY MINUTES
June 6, 2016
The meeting was called to order by Jes Walker at 6:08 p.m. Others present were Lenny Glover, Sara Wilson, Erin Witthun, Kate Tyczinski, Betty
Kastenschmidt and Jean Winther. Joy Waterbury and Kathy Sletten were absent. A motion was made by Jean and seconded by Betty to approve the
minutes for May 2, 2016 and the treasurer’s report showing a balance of $21,534.25.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Pallet Fundraiser: Sara advised that we made $865 on the pallet fundraiser and all felt it went well.
2. Paint Party Choices: Only 4 board members have submitted choices for the paint party and Sara asked that the other board members please
submit their choices. Betty also mentioned that she was aware of someone else who holds paint parties and only charged $25. She will check into it.
3. June Dairy Days Parade: Sara asked if anyone could walk in the parade on June 11th. Lenny and Erin volunteered to walk in the parade for the
library. They are to meet at the Markesan Library by 6:30 p.m.
BUILDING PLANS:
1. Chimney & Duct Cleaning: A discussion was held about if the chimney and heating ducts should be cleaned. The electric fireplace has not been
cleaned since it was installed. Sara and Jean will check them to see it they need cleaning.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Photo Exhibit: Sara advised that the photo exhibit is going well. 1 picture and 26 cards have been sold already.
2. New Display: We currently have 3-D puzzles in the display case and they will be there until June 22. Sara asked if anyone had a collection to
display. Erin volunteered to put her Laura Ingalls Wilder collection on display which will be good for the summer reading program.
3. Summer Reading Program: The Summer Reading Program theme this year is “Exercise your mind – Read” and will start June 30 through July
21 at 2:00 p.m. The pool party will be on July 28.
4. Car Show Date: After a discussion it was decided to hold the care show on August 20 from 11:00 to 2:00. The cars will park in the parking area
across the street and we will sell food in front of the library. Sara will check with Krueger’s to be sure they do not have an auction planned for that
day
TOPICS FROM THE FLOOR
A discussion was held about our July meeting since it will fall on July 4. It was decided to hold the meeting on Tuesday, July 5th.
Motion by Jean and seconded by Erin to adjourn the meeting at 6:47 P.M.
