8/18/15 Back to School Special at the Library

Have you visited the back room at the Mill Pond Library in the past?  It is filled with books for sale.  Where do they all come from?  Some have been weeded from our collection to make room for new books, and some are donated.  Normally a bag of books would sell for $5.00 but for the next 2 weeks the library is having a "Back to School" sale and the price is slashed in half.  There are westerns, mysteries, science fiction, romance, novels,  children's books and non-fiction.  We've worked hard on the non-fiction the past month to sort it in to categories to make it easier if someone is looking for a specific subject like gardening or antiques.  There are also some books on cd and videos for sale back there.  Anything that fits in a bag goes for $2.50 for the next two weeks.  A portion of the money raised will go towards school supplies for children in need at our school district.  We also have a collection box at the library for school supplies, put out by the Kingston Businessmen's Association.  If you are out shopping for school supplies for your children why not pick up a few extra items and drop them off!! All your basic items are on the list: notebooks, folders, glue, pencils, kleenex, etc.  The school supplies are kept at the school offices and teachers are able to get items for children, discreetly, who are missing something.    Money donations are accepted also.  The 1st Congregational Church of Dalton Missionary Society and the Kingston Lioness  are two local groups that have donated to the cause.  Thank you for helping us to help others.
