06/18/14 Happenings at the Mill Pond Library

The Mill Pond Library Photography Club just finished its first exhibition.  They raised $330.00, which was donated to the library, from prints that sold and a drawing that was held.  The drawing featured a photo taken by member Kathy Sletten, and the lucky winner was Mark Dugenske of Marquette. The club is thinking of doing a barn crawl in the Fall, taking pictures of interesting looking barns.  If you'd be willing to have your barn photographed send an email to Kathy at ksletten@chorus.net.

The Summer Reading Program starts at the library this Thursday, June 19th, at 3:30pm.  Sarah Chastain, a teacher from the Markesan School District will run the program for us again.  This year we will be trying something new, a bingo game where children can pick a book to read and then pick a project to do off a bingo card.  Some of the projects include creating a poster advertising the book or writing a poem about the main character.  Any child getting a bingo before the program is done, August 7th, will be eligible to go to our pool party held at the Berlin Pool.

The library has a new batch of great smelling, homemade lotion for sale.  Denise Belmer of Randolph makes the lotion and donates it to the library.  There are many wonderful scents, Spring Rain, Cranberry Pomegranate, and Lavender Basil to name a few.  Money raised from the lotion goes towards purchasing new library materials for our collection.

The Loosely Bound Book Club meets on the last Thursday of the month at the library at 6pm.  This month we will be discussing the book Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight.  Stop in and pick up a book, there's still time to get it read, then come join the discussion.
