Board Meeting

MILL POND PUBLIC LIBRARY MINUTES
August 4, 2014

The meeting was called to order by Jes Walker at 6:10 p.m.  Others present were Sara Wilson, Lenny Glover, Kathy Sletten, Jean Winther, Kate Tyczinski and Joy Waterbury.  Chrissy Michels and Betty Kastenschmidt were absent.  A motion was made by Joy and seconded by Kathy to approve the minutes for July 7, 2014 and the treasurer’s report.

OLD BUSINESS
1.  Auction Fundraiser:  A discussion was held about the posters for the auction.  It was decided that the menu for the auction would include barbecues, hot dogs, potato chips, bars, cinnamon rolls, coffee, soda and water.  Sara will bring the recipe for the barbecue next month and the board members will each make a portion of the amount needed.
2.  Shopwithscrip.com:  Kes is still working on this and is tabled for another month.
4.  Summer Reading Program:  Sara reported that the program ends this week and that the pool party is set for August 14.

BUILDING PLANS:
1.  Back Awning:  We had a big surprise in that the awning was replaced on the back window after the letter was sent to Baraboo Tent & Awning.  Sara said that it just showed up one day and that she did not receive any notice from the company.
2.  Rugs Cleaned:  The rugs will be cleaned on August 29 which is Labor Day weekend.
3.  Painting the Garage:  Wednesday, August 13, at 9:00 a.m. was set for the next day to work on painting the garage.  All members of the board who are able to help on that day were asked to do so.
4.  Internet Update:  Sara advised that there is no new news at this time. We are still waiting for hookup.

NEW BUSINESS
1.  August 9 Conflict:  The subject of Sara needing occasional help when she needs a day off was discussed.  Jean will be able to work for Sara on August 9 and it was recommended that board members learn how to use the library computer.
2.  Pressure Tank:  Sara advised that she noticed weeping on the pressure tank in the basement.  After a discussion, a motion was made by Lenny to purchase a new pressure tank and was seconded by Jean.  The motion carried.

TOPICS FROM THE FLOOR
Jes presented information on the “Flower Power Fundraising” project.  After a discussion, it was decided to wait until next spring to do this fundraising project.  Sara also advised that she will be closing off the reading room in September to use it for storage of auction items.

Motion by Jes and seconded by Joy to adjourn the meeting at 7:00 P.M.

Lenora Glover, Secretary
