Board Meeting

MILL POND PUBLIC LIBRARY MINUTES

April 7, 2014

 

The meeting was called to order by Jes Walker at 6:15 p.m.  Others present were Sara Wilson, Lenny Glover, Kate Tyczinski, Chrissy Michels, Jean Winther, Betty Kastenschmidt and Kathy Sletten.  A motion was made by Betty and seconded by Jean to approve the minutes for March 17, 2014 and the treasurer’s report. 

 

OLD BUSINESS

1.  By-Laws:  After review and discussion Kathy made a motion to accept the By-laws as amended.  The motion was seconded by Jean and the motion carried.

2.  Auction:  Sara advised that she sent the October 5 date to Wayne Yoder but has not heard from him yet.  We will open the doors at 10:00 a.m. and the auction will start at noon.  He can do about 100 items per hour.

3.  Town of Marquette:  The Town of Marquette will have their Annual Meeting on April 15 at 6:00 p.m.  Lenny and Jean will attend.

4.  County Board:  The next Green Lake County Board meeting will be on April 15 at 9:00 a.m.  Jack Meyers will come to the library on April 17 at 6:30 p.m. to meet with concerned citizens about the library.  Some of the board members will bring snacks.

5.  Shopwithscrip.com:  Sara did not have time to get the needed information for this fund raiser.

6.  Newsletter:  Sara had the newsletter available and the board helped prepare it for mailing.  

 

BUILDING PLANS:     

1.  Back Awning:  Sara advised that she has not heard anything yet from the Village Board.         

2.  Rugs Cleaned:  Now that winter is over Sara said now would be a good time to get the rugs cleaned.  Motion by Jean and seconded by Jes to go ahead.  

3.  Painting the Garage:  Since the garage did not get painted last fall it was decided to do it this spring but we will wait until the weather gets warmer.

 

NEW BUSINESS

1.  Week of the Young Child:  Sara advised that the Markesan Elementary School is having a Week of the Young Child.  Kes will have a booth for the library and story hour at the school on April 10 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.     

2.  New Display:  Sara advised that we have a new display of antique hats.

3.  Kes:  Sara advised that Kes is having knee surgery and will be gone the month of June and maybe July and was concerned about story hour while she was gone.  The board said they would help out.  Sara also advised that Sara Chastain would like to try a new summer reading program.
