Time to DIG INTO the Summer Reading Program

Summer is here and that means libraries are starting their summer reading programs.  This year's theme is "Dig in to Reading" and at the Mill Pond Library in Kingston Mrs. Diggety (Sarah Chastain) will be leading the kids on the trail of learning.  The program runs for 4 weeks, starting this Thursday, June 20th, at 4:30pm.  The children will learn about planting, dinosaurs and fossils, and machines that dig.  Reading is a skill for life, and, as with any skill, practice is key. Studies have shown that children who read more become better readers. Children who read over the summer months gain, rather than lose, important skills.  For the summer reading program kids are encouraged to read or be read to for 20 minutes each day.  Those completing their reading will be invited to a pool party at the Berlin Pool on the last day of the program.  Stop in at the library and sign up today!!
